David Barrons
CPA, Multi-State Tax Partner
David serves as Partner-In-Charge of the firm's Multi-State Tax Group having joined Beene Garter in 2009. His focus is to provide clients with practical state tax consulting services, predominately in the areas of business structuring, state and local tax controversy, state tax reviews, nexus services and transaction tax analysis. David has over 19 years of experience in public accounting after working within private industry for 10 years. While based in Michigan, David's expertise extends across state boarders. David has represented clients' interests in all fifty states and in the District of Columbia on various state and local tax matters.
He serves clients across a broad range of industry sectors, including manufacturing, transportation, technology development and distribution, and construction contracting. David is a frequent speaker for the MACPA and other business organizations on a variety of state tax issues, including the Michigan Business Tax.
David graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University and received his Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Portland State University. His professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. David serves as the Past Chairman of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Tax and Regulatory Affairs Committee. David currently serves as Board President for the Independent SALT Alliance, a national network of state and local tax advisors. In addition, he is a member of the West Michigan Tax Policy Committee.
Active in the West Michigan community, David is a member of Neighborhood Ventures, a nonprofit group dedicated to improving the quality of urban neighborhoods in Grand Rapids through economic growth.
